I have a new to me car. When I bought it I knew the brakes would need replacing. Last night I went to have them looked at... $440+. I about died. I was at my girfriends.. and just handed her the phone.. letting them explain to her what was wrong. Immediately all her friends pulled out cell phones & procedded to call their car guys. Today I went to a nice little shop.. Fixed my brakes.. (I didn''t need rotors, and the back brakes were fine) all for $129.00

Very nice, showed & explained to me what was wrong and what needed replacing.. and didn't try to up the bill.

His # is now in my cell phone. True, I had to wait a day to get brakes fixed. True, I had to get up early on a Saturday to get them fixed.. but for $300+ it was worth it. I now have a brake & muffler guy.lol

I will be loyal to him, and the national chains can go fly a kite.

Eventually I'll have a phone full of #'s of nice little shops that will keep my car going. I'd rather add to this type of shop, than the other.

Like I said.. Thank goodness for knowlegeable friends.

Almost 30 years ago, I had to have my old jalopy inspected. I knew it needed a muffler. I took it to a local repair shop, and he said only the front part needed replacing (he did not do inspections).

It failed! I took it back to him, and he appologized, replaced the other half and only charged me parts.

He has worked at several places around town since then, but I have followed him everywhere he has gone. I trust him. Having a brother and cousin in the auto repair business, I know how many are cheats and shysters. So when you find a good honest one, keep him! I have recommended him to friends over the years, and at one time, had my whole office going to him. He is that good.

Besides, since we know each other, I could call him one day when I ran over a piece of road trash, blew 2 tires, and have him not only send a wrecker in minutes, but have 2 new tires on my truck in less than 2 hours. from the time of the call!
