I'm glad.. but it makes no sense

Wenesday I will board a plane that will take me to my family in San Diego. I will knit while flying. I can take 14" metal needles, strong enough to cause pain, but they would be legal... I have to make sure that my fingernail clippers do not have that little file on them.. that is illegal...

Ok what is wrong with the above statement? nothing... it's a fact. Once can take knitting needles... any size,, from very very thin to big on an airplane. One can knit and enjoy this wonderful hobby. One can also take double pointed needles... like a needle, very thing and sharp aboard also. These are usually used to make socks, some hats,, that type of thing.

I am glad that homeland security is trying(?) to improve the safety of flights. However, sometimes common sence just doesn't go with it. They check my camera by hand.. and that takes about 5 minutes.. I go through the screening no prob.. my knitting bag flies through.. I make sure everything is legal.

I realize there are people in this world who could use a pencil to kill someone. However, a 1" fingernail file on a pair of clippers is illegal.., as opposed to 14" of solid metal, sharpened is legal?

I think restricting it to wood or plastic would make more sense..but then no one asked me. I would not want to be deprived of my hobby, but I would understand only being able to use non metal needles.

So, as I pack for my trip, I shake my head, sorting what I will take on board to keep me busy during the 3.5 hr flight. I'll take my resin needles, just due to fact I feel safer knowing they aren't the metal ones. But, then that is me...

Take care, thanks for stopping by.. don't forget to say hi!.

I think Vampires would disagree with you!

I know what you mean. I am headed there in a couple of weeks, and have to remind myself to take out my swiss army knife (about 2 inches) and nail clippers from my pocket before going to the airport!
